[GRK-110] Introduction to Biblical Greek 1A
GRK 110 | APPENDIX

Vocabulary

Vocabulary

Lexical entries of the Greek noun are nominative singular, followed by the genitive singular case ending (-ου, –ης, ον, etc.) and the article (ὁ, ἡ, τό) to indicate gender. Due to the alterations that occur in the nominative singular form, identifying the stem of a third declension noun can be challenging. The most reliable approach to this issue is to commit both the genitive singular and the lexical form to memory.

The lexical form of the Greek verb is the present active indicative first person singular (The first principle part). The remaining five principle parts are provided in blue, after the definition of the verb. They are provided in the following order: 2. Future, 3. Aorist, 4. Perfect, 5. Perfect middle, and 6. Aorist passive. These six principal parts provide the basis for forming all other tense and voice forms.
